Vodia Networks has released version 67.0 of its multi-tenant cloud PBX, building on version 66.0 with enhanced features for a more flexible and productive remote work experience. Vodia's paging account now supports Google Text-to-Speech via REST API, allowing SIP devices to broadcast text as speech. This is particularly useful for institutions like schools, factories and and hospitals - prompts are cached to avoid repeated API calls, enhancing efficiency. Compatible devices include Cyber Data paging units, desktop phones and any SIP-capable paging system using multicast or unicast. To test this feature, administrators can use simple curl commands to trigger text-to-speech messages via the Vodia PBX, making it ideal for efficient communication.

Vodia's integration with Microsoft Teams allows seamless communication between Vodia and Teams extensions, enabling users to make and receive calls from both systems. Teams members can also participate in hunt and agent groups, ensuring smooth collaboration. Those not using Teams can still communicate via registered SIP phones, as Vodia’s integration allows direct routing from Teams extensions. Additionally, Vodia supports the use of any SIP Trunk provider, meaning you don't need to switch to Teams' SIP Trunks. This flexible integration simplifies PBX setup and management through an intuitive drop-down menu, making it easier to #WorkWithVodia.
Vodia's phone system offers seamless music on hold using the Easy On Hold service, which enhances the customer experience during wait times. The hold feature, originally patented by Albert Levy, allows for managing multiple calls efficiently, keeping one caller engaged while addressing another. Easy On Hold streams in unicast mode, enabling the same stream to be shared across Vodia's multi-tenant PBX. To implement this, a routable IP is required, and opening the appropriate inbound port for streaming may be necessary.
To configure VoIP Innovation SMS with Vodia PBX, start by ensuring you have Vodia version 66.0.7, a VoIP Innovations account, and a purchased DID number. Log in to your VoIP Innovations account, create an SMS-only API app using Apidaze, and set the SMS request URL to your PBX domain. Assign your DID number to this app for SMS functionality. Then, in the Vodia PBX, enable SMS at the domain level and configure the messaging settings by entering the API key, secret and SMS DID. Finally, test the SMS feature using the Vodia Windows App by sending a message to a number formatted as 1XXXXXXXXXX.
