Why does the customer want a new phone system?
Most companies won’t even consider a new phone system unless they are compelled to do so because they need to save money, because their current system no longer has the features they need, or because the company’s team is now dispersed and they need a cloud phone system to create and maintain a collaborative and effective hybrid work environment.
You’ll need to find out what your potential customer needs for a “baseline” phone system, so it’s important to ask the right questions, so you’ll have a better understanding of what the company is looking for, the ideal phone system for this customer, and the timeframe for installation and deployment, while simultaneously helping the customer bring what the organization needs into focus, one of the most important services an MSP can provide to a business.
Planning the Solution
After answering your potential customer’s “why,” it’s time to figure out “what” and “how.” You’ll need to determine what specific needs the new phone system will meet and what features, hardware, and phones are required. Does the customer have existing digital/analog phone lines? A plan to keep them? If so, a VoIP gateway will be necessary. What are the customer’s expectations regarding AI functionality?
You should also determine what peripheral hardware, such as conference room and door phones, and intercoms, will be necessary to build a bespoke communications ecosystem for your customer.
