Vodia sales engineer Eric Altman recently attended Enterprise Connect 2024 in Orlando, FL, from March 25 to March 28, connecting with partners and exploring the latest trends in enterprise communication. With a focus on AI and contact centers, Eric participated in sessions discussing AI's role in call distribution and agent handling. The event showcased innovative solutions from various companies, including Vodia partners QuestBlue and Cyberdata, offering SIP trunking, messaging, voice, and IP endpoint services. Eric also engaged with Cove Central, highlighting Vodia's Technology Alliance Partner Program (TAPP) collaboration.
Vodia sales engineer Eric Altman visited a number of Vodia partners at Enterprise Connect, held in Orlando, FL, from March 25 through March 28. Enterprise Connect, the largest enterprise communication trade show in the USA, brings corporate IT decision makers together with analysts, channel partners, consultants and vendors. This year’s event gave attendees a widescreen view of the newest ideas and trends in IT, including five new conference tracks: AI & Automation, Data & Analytics, Employee Experience and Vertical Industry Focus.
According to Eric, the primary focus at Enterprise Connect was AI and contact centers. He attended a few sessions in which AI capabilities were discussed, topics such as how AI can help distribute a call properly and how an AI agent can handle a call. The takeaway? Not only is AI being deployed to better distribute calls in a call center, in a somewhat similar fashion to skills-based routing, but it can replace live, human agents - it will become hard to tell the difference between AI agents and human agents, especially as the technology continues to improve.
“There are companies that can now provide these agents to take comments from callers and either redistribute the call to the correct ‘person’ or take the call to its successful conclusion,” Eric says, “not unlike what a live, human agent would do.”
Enterprise Connect also featured a number of companies offering collaboration and work from home solutions alongside other components, including Vodia partners QuestBlue, which provides a universal platform for SIP trunking, messaging and voice, and Cyberdata, an IP endpoint company and a provider of SIP paging. Eric also got to visit with another Vodia partner, Cove Central; in November, 2023, Cove announced its Technology Alliance Partner Program (TAPP) with QuestBlue and Vodia, part of its nationwide effort to support Vodia’s industry-leading cloud phone system.

Eric Altman joins Doug Green on the Technology Reseller News podcast to discuss Vodia V70 and the latest innovations in business communications. The conversation covers the redesigned admin portal, centralized remote provisioning, AI voice agents for inbound and outbound call handling, and upcoming additions such as Vodia Monitor and Vodia Analytics. Eric also explains how V70 helps enterprises, SMBs, and service providers build more scalable, flexible, and intelligent communication environments across both cloud and on-premise deployments.
V70 of the Vodia PBX introduces flexible service flags that help organizations automate call routing, scheduling, queue management, announcements, and communication workflows throughout the day. Service flags can be configured manually or automatically to control how calls are handled during business hours, after hours, holidays, or special events. They can also be chained together for more advanced routing logic and integrated with external calendars such as Google Calendar to support dynamic scheduling and operational flexibility across business environments.
Business communication systems have evolved rapidly, but many organizations are still dealing with fragmented tools, limited visibility, and growing operational complexity. As more platforms and channels are added, clarity often decreases, making it harder to manage workflows, respond in real time, and maintain control. A modern approach requires consolidating systems, improving visibility, and reducing noise to create a more efficient and manageable communication environment.
