A Unified Communication System for Education

Bright Future needed to address the complexity of managing communication across a mix of device types, including traditional VoIP phones in classrooms, smartphones and laptop computers. The goal was to create a unified VoIP phone system that could efficiently support internal collaboration, manage emergency notifications and streamline outbound calling; the school also wanted a phone system to control school bells and provide the school with both live and prerecorded overhead paging. Bright Future required a variety of features to achieve these goals while saving itself significant increase in costs, both upfront and on an annual basis, by maintaining its existing mix of hardware.

Unified Communication Across Devices: The integration enables seamless collaboration among school employees using Teams, while preserving traditional communication via VoIP endpoints in classrooms. Teachers utilize Vodia apps on their devices, while cell phones without Vodia apps are also supported. And call routing, interactive voice response (IVR) and virtual receptionist streamline the management of incoming calls, making sure these phone calls always "land" in the right place.
  2. Emergency Call Notifications: Vodia's VoIP system enables emergency notifications through multiple channels: overhead paging, text messages and emails. This multi-channel approach ensures urgent information reaches everyone promptly, regardless of location or device.
  3. School Bell Operation: The PBX has been configured to manage the school bell, integrating it with the overall communication system and streamlining the bell schedule for class changes and other school events.
