Vodia is excited to announce that its PBX is now certified for Microsoft Teams, enabling seamless voice integration with Teams’ collaboration tools. This certification allows Teams users to leverage advanced PBX features, such as call routing, auto attendants, voicemail, and more, while ensuring secure and high-quality voice services. The integration also supports various industries like hospitality, healthcare and manufacturing, where Teams users can now make and receive calls via Vodia’s certified SBC. With the Vodia PBX, organizations can streamline their communication processes and reduce costs while ensuring continuity and flexibility across all channels.

Vodia is delighted to announce the Vodia PBX is now certified for Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams provides enterprises and SMBs with an unrivaled set of features for video communication and collaboration, making it an indispensable tool for increased productivity. In combination with the Vodia PBX, any organization can now use Microsoft Teams as an office phone system while benefiting from Vodia’s rich B2B communication feature set. The solution provides secure, integrated voice services to Teams collaboration environments.

A Session Border Controller (SBC) is responsible for protecting and managing the flow of IP communication. Microsoft selects and certifies SBC vendors whose products support Direct Routing, and Vodia’s SBC has been certified as part of the Vodia PBX. Direct Routing allows companies using Teams calling to directly manage the interconnection to the service provider, so users can make and receive calls to/from the public telephone network and to/from the company IP-PBX within Teams. Vodia is now a member of the elite class of Microsoft Teams certified devices that support Direct Routing. The certification expands the scope of applications for our solutions and enables our partners to bolster and enrich their unified communications and collaboration service offerings.

Teams users can dial and receive calls to the Vodia PBX. When calling from Teams, the Vodia PBX will connect calls to SIP trunks or devices that are registered with the PBX. For example, this makes it possible to make public announcements from Teams or speak to a person on a door phone. In hospitality environments, it is now possible that front desk staff can call hotel rooms from a Teams extension. Vice versa, it is possible to call Teams users for example from hotel rooms. This opens up a large range of new opportunities to expand the usage of Teams in several industries.

Vodia PBX comes generally with a large range of features. Specifically, the benefits of combining Vodia with Teams include:

  • Access to Vodia PBX features such as call routing, ring groups, auto attendants, call queues, mailbox, and more
  • Automatic provisioning and management of a large range of SIP devices
  • Availability of overhead paging for Teams users
  • Integration of multi-cell DECT and on-prem 5G equipment solutions with Teams
  • Usage of radio over IP (RoIP) devices
  • Access to a large range of SIP trunks that are preconfigured on the Vodia PBX
  • Simple call recording locally and in the cloud
  • Leveraging CRM integrations through the Vodia PBX integration framework
  • Uninterrupted communication via the Vodia PBX during internet outages when installed on-premise

“The Microsoft Teams certification of the Vodia PBX is an important milestone for us,” said Christian Stredicke, founder and CEO of Vodia Networks. “Now organizations that are using Teams have plug and play access to a large range of devices and services that were hard to get to before.”

“Our list of supported vendors and devices has steadily grown over the years. We now make the whole list easily accessible to the Teams ecosystem. This does not only include standard desktop phones; it also includes analog and digital gateways, softphones, overhead paging equipment and even some door phone equipment. We even have customers using our softphone SDK to develop their own WebRTC-based software that we can now connect with Microsoft Teams. This makes Teams even more interesting for industries such as healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, maritime/cruising, public/government – including schools – and transportation.”

It is easy to run the Vodia PBX. Available on Windows and several Linux flavors, the PBX can run on premise and in the cloud. There are also embedded versions available. The SBC is part of the Vodia PBX and does not need to be installed separately. The PBX runs on a single instance with modest hardware requirements.

By combining the Vodia PBX with Microsoft Teams, any organization in any industry can leverage the advanced communication features of the Vodia PBX and the powerful collaboration tools of Microsoft Teams for the best of both worlds. This seamless, secure integration simplifies communication, enhances flexibility and increases call management control, all while reducing the costs of additional licensing. Whether your company is looking to improve its internal collaboration, streamline customer communication or ensure business continuity during connectivity disruptions, the Vodia PBX, now certified by Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, gives you a robust, scalable, cost-effective and secure solution.
