WOBURN, MA. – May. 26, 2015 – Vodia Networks Inc  a leading provider of PBX and contact center software, announced today the launch of a free VoIP Phone app to complement its Vodia PBX product line. The app called “Vodia Phone”, now available through the Google Play Store, will allow Vodia PBX users to make and receive voice calls over data networks using any Android mobile devices running Android 4.1 or higher. Based on the WebRTC technology, the app will be particularly beneficial for business users who want to use their mobile device to place voice calls over 3G or Wi-Fi through their Vodia PBX system while using their business number. An iOS version is planned for release in a few weeks.

To install the App, users can simply go to the Google Play store on their Android device, enter “Vodiaphone” in the search field and tap the Install button when the app appears. The Vodia phone Mobile App requires Android version 4.1 and higher.

Once the app is launched, the user needs to sign in using his/her Vodia PBX user credentials. A successful login brings up a lean user interface with a dial-pad and tabs for a Contact list, User presence and Call history. In addition to a rich audio quality for a superior mobile VoIP experience, the simple and intuitive design puts contacts and call history at the fingertips of the user. To place calls, users can simply enter the destination number through the dialpad or click on the contact name in the contact list. Missed, dialed and received calls can easily be tracked through the call history tab, and callbacks can be made easily with a single tap. The contact list displays real-time presence status of the user’s contacts including Online, Offline, Busy or In-call statuses. Based on the WebRTC technology, the Vodia Phone app is an extremely light-weight app that is low on storage space (under 1 MB) and makes use of the native browser based VoIP functionality of the mobile device eliminating the need for any heavy dependencies.

“Mobility has become a necessity of the modern enterprise. Businesses are embracing the concepts of enterprise mobility to increase customer satisfaction, boost productivity and accelerate sales. With the introduction of this Mobile app our aim is to bring the power of the Vodia PBX platform to the mobile user and provide seamless integration with our PBX product. We are certain that with this first step of ours into the mobile space, we can help business users realize a better mobile enterprise.” says Vodia Networks.

snom button mode to the rescue

Addressing a challenge with LDAP, VoIP phones lack the ability to write new contacts to the address book. For users of snom phones, a solution involves utilizing the snom button mode, specifically the "keyevent" mode with the F_ADR_BOOK parameter. This configuration enables users to add phone numbers directly from the phone keyboard, bypassing the need for PBX login and web interface use. This versatile approach can also be applied to other functions and is similarly available for Grandstream, HTek, and Yealink phones.
