Snapshots in V70: Capture and Restore Your PBX with Confidence

Published on:

March 31, 2026

PBX snapshots in V70 provide a reliable way to capture system state before changes are applied, enabling fast recovery, controlled rollback, and more predictable system management when updating configurations, testing call flows, or operating across multiple tenants. By preserving a point-in-time version of the system, administrators can reduce the risk of disruption, restore services quickly when issues arise, and maintain stability while making ongoing changes in complex communication environments.

In real-world PBX environments, even small configuration changes can have system-wide impact. Whether preparing for an update, testing new call flows, or making adjustments across tenants, having a reliable way to capture the system state before changes are applied is critical.

On March 19, 2026, we released V70 of the Vodia PBX, building on the dependability and stability of V69.5 and introducing a range of new capabilities, available for both enterprise phone system deployments and SMB communication environments.

As part of the release of V70, we are taking a closer look at some of these features, including capabilities such as real-time alerts and WhatsApp integration. This includes snapshots, or PBX snapshots, which refer to point-in-time "pictures" of a system.

PBX Snapshots in V70

Snapshots are simple captures of the current state of a PBX - they can be used for disaster recovery and quick restoration and are available with V70:

  • The first version uses a file system, giving users a straightforward way to recover or “roll back” a system
  • Before generating a snapshot, the system automatically checks if there’s more than 20 percent free disk space available
  • Restoring a snapshot restarts the PBX
  • Before restoration, the system automatically creates a backup of the current configuration (this auto-backup is added to the snapshots list if recovery is necessary)
  • Snapshots are stored in the PBX working directory

Please note, the snapshots feature of V70 is supported exclusively on Linux operating systems

The Vodia PBX and the Infor Hospitality Platform

The certified integration between the Vodia PBX and the Infor Hospitality Platform brings hotel operations and guest communications together. This reduces manual work for hotel staff and keeps telephone services synchronized throughout each guest’s stay.

Digital Autonomy and Why MSPs Should Own the Customer Relationship

Digital autonomy gives MSPs control over how customer communications, data and infrastructure are deployed, managed, processed and stored. With Vodia, MSPs can build a flexible, branded communications service across cloud and on-premise environments while retaining control of pricing, service delivery, support and the customer relationship. This independence helps protect long-term account value, reduce reliance on third-party vendors and create more opportunities to expand services over time.
