Vodia PBX now supports AWS Graviton processors, bringing more efficient and affordable cloud communications to businesses of all sizes. By running natively on ARM-based Graviton instances across all major Linux distributions, Vodia enables up to 40% better price performance compared to traditional x86 systems. This means lower AWS infrastructure costs, reduced energy consumption, and no compromise on reliability or features. It’s a timely upgrade for businesses looking to modernize their phone systems while optimizing spending.
The future of cost-effective cloud communications just got brighter…
Vodia is excited to announce native support for AWS Graviton processors - we are opening the door to significant cost savings without compromising on performance or reliability.
Breaking the x86_64 Barrier
For years, the industry-standard Vodia PBX has delivered enterprise-grade communications on traditional x86_64 architecture across popular Linux distributions, including Ubuntu (versions 22 and 24), Debian (versions 11 and 12), CentOS 9, AlmaLinux 9, and Rocky Linux 9. We're now expanding beyond these traditional boundaries to embrace the power and efficiency of ARM-based Graviton processors.
Supporting multiple processor architectures is nothing new to the Vodia phone system. It supports the 32-bit ARM-based Raspberry Pi used in Vodia IOP devices and the MIPS used in the Vodia IO platform (in the early days of Vodia, we also supported the PowerPC architecture). If needed, other architectures like RISC V can also be targeted.
The Graviton Advantage: More Performance, Lower Cost
AWS Graviton is a family of processors designed to deliver the most cost-effective performance for your cloud workloads running in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). AWS Graviton processors represent a paradigm shift in cloud computing economics.
Built on ARM architecture, these processors deliver up to 40 percent better price performance when compared to comparable x86-based instances. For enterprises and SMBs running the Vodia PBX, this translates to immediate and substantial cost reductions on your AWS infrastructure, but you won’t sacrifice the robust features and reliability you depend on.
Key Benefits
Consistent Performance: Maintain the same high-quality voice communications and advanced PBX features you expect from the feature-rich Vodia PBX.
Enhanced Energy Efficiency: Graviton processors consume less power, contributing to both cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint.
Reduced Operating Costs: Lower per-hour instance pricing means your monthly AWS bills shrink significantly.
AWS Graviton also gives you a savings dashboard, a visualization tool that helps you understand the impact of current and future Graviton usage on your workloads.
Perfect Timing for Cost-Conscious Businesses
In today's economic climate, every dollar saved on infrastructure can be reinvested in the growth of your company. By supporting Graviton processors, the Vodia PBX enables organizations to optimize spending on communication infrastructure while maintaining enterprise-grade capabilities.

Vodia’s PBX now integrates with Keycloak OpenID Connect, providing secure single sign-on for users so they can access all connected applications without repeated authentication. Logging out from one application automatically logs the user out of all connected systems, simplifying user management and improving security. Keycloak, a Cloud Native Computing Foundation project, supports standard protocols including OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, and SAML, offering enterprise-grade identity and access management. To ensure proper integration, Keycloak user emails must match the corresponding PBX extension emails. Complete guidance is available in the Vodia Keycloak integration guide, with additional details in the Keycloak official documentation.

Although many consider fax outdated, it continues to play a crucial role in sectors where compliance, confidentiality, and legal proof of delivery are non-negotiable. Healthcare providers rely on fax to meet HIPAA requirements, while industries such as finance, law, and real estate depend on it for contracts and documents that require signatures or legally verifiable transmission. Unlike email, fax offers confirmation reports that serve as proof of receipt, along with time-stamped records that hold up in legal proceedings. With Vodia’s PBX, digital fax becomes faster, easier, and more accessible than ever before, enabling users to drag and drop documents, monitor transmission progress, and receive immediate confirmations.
