Vodia Cloud Phone System Users can now connect the native softphone in Microsoft Teams Using the TeamMate Connector

Burlington, MA – April 6, 2022: Vodia Networks (“Vodia”), maker of cutting-edge software-based telephone systems, is pleased to announce its partnership with TeamMate Technology. The TeamMate Connector is now available with Vodia’s best-in-class, feature-rich cloud PBX. TeamMate is the perfect Vodia ecosystem partner: TeamMate’s PBX Connector enables the use of Microsoft Teams as a softphone on a Vodia Cloud Phone System. TeamMate’s SIP Trunk Connector allows a Trunk from Microsoft Teams to be registered to Vodia. The available TeamMate Connectors include:

·        The TeamMate PBX Connector integrates one or multiple PBX per Microsoft Office 365 tenants, permitting the use of the native dial pad in Microsoft Teams as an endpoint or softphone in a cloud or on-prem PBX.

·        The TeamMate SIP Trunk Connector automates the build and management of a Direct Routing connection into Microsoft Teams, so service providers can add users and manage settings, limit call paths and device trunk profiles.

·        The TeamMate SMS Connector links SMS numbers from many of the leading business texting providers for the user in Microsoft Teams– users can send and receive SMS messages as individuals or in groups on mobile, desktop or anywhere else Microsoft Teams is available.

“TeamMate has built a unique product in the market and brings a groundbreaking approach to integration,” said Kyle Asbury, Director, Sales, and Marketing, Vodia. “Microsoft Teams offers an unprecedented feature set for collaboration – its integration with document sharing, enterprise chat, calendar and meetings make Teams an outstanding productivity suite for just about every organization. Both traditional and hybrid connectivity to existing systems or carriers can be challenging, however; whether it’s a PBX or a SIP Trunk, TeamMate makes it so service providers and businesses can quickly start using their Vodia service seamlessly integrated alongside their other Microsoft Team tools. We’re thrilled to be working with them.”

“Vodia has loyal distributors and customers, some of whom use Microsoft Teams for collaboration,” said Micah Singer, Managing Director, TeamMate Technology. “It makes perfect sense to offer a Vodia softphone natively integrated into Microsoft Teams to the growing population of business users who work in Teams but require their current PBX features, carrier network, or SMS chat. Our job is to make the Teams-Vodia integration easy to setup, easy to use and compelling for Teams users.”

How Vodia Helps Hotels Not Disturb Their Guests

Vodia’s cloud PBX system enhances the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) function for hotels, allowing guests to manage their privacy through buttons in the room or on the phone. The system syncs with PMS for seamless functionality, enabling hotel operators to manually override DND when guests struggle to disable it. For critical situations, like room service follow-ups, the system allows specific extensions to bypass DND, ensuring guests are reachable when needed. VIP guest management features, guest-to-guest call restrictions and automatic resets upon checkout ensure privacy, security, and convenience, improving the guest experience while maintaining operational efficiency.

WLAN and VoIP: What You Need to Know

As businesses increasingly adopt Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), understanding its impact on Voice over IP (VoIP) is essential. While WLAN offers flexibility and mobility, it can lead to call quality issues due to packet loss and bursts during access point switching. To combat these challenges, organizations can utilize robust codecs like OPUS which are designed to handle packet loss effectively and employ Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to enhance jitter buffers. By incorporating these solutions, companies can ensure a more reliable VoIP experience that meets the demands of modern workplaces, allowing seamless communication without interruptions.

Call Forwarding Glitches

In the late 1980s, prank calls were a common form of entertainment but often caused confusion, similar to today’s call forwarding glitches. Recently, a client migrating to a new PBX system experienced disruptions when users mistyped numbers for call forwarding. While user errors are common, there's a bigger concern: calls being misdirected to emergency numbers or costly lines, especially since many VoIP phones lack security features. Solutions include restricting call forwarding to internal numbers, blocking access or allowing only specific, pre-approved numbers. Ultimately, balancing control over settings is essential to prevent glitches while keeping systems user-friendly.
