The Vodia PBX was originally designed in 2005, at a time when MSPs lacked scalable cloud PBX solutions to host. Launched as pbxnsip, it quickly became one of the first multi-tenant VoIP platforms created specifically for service providers. In 2010, the pbxnsip technology and team became associated with snom, during which time the product was marketed under the brand name snom one. Two years later, in 2012, the PBX software division was spun out as Vodia Networks, an independent company focused entirely on advancing SIP-based communication systems.
