Back in February, we announced we would support Panasonic customers as Panasonic departs its PBX and SIP businesses, and we remain committed to doing so. Comprehensive support. What does this mean, exactly? Panasonic users will need to source alternative communications solutions once these items are no longer supported, before the year 2023, and Vodia is ready to provide comprehensive, best-in-class cloud and on-premise multi-tenant systems to Panasonic customers.

Back in February, we announced we would support Panasonic customers as Panasonic departs its PBX and SIP businesses, and we remain committed to doing so. Comprehensive support. What does this mean, exactly? Panasonic users will need to source alternative communications solutions once these items are no longer supported, before the year 2023, and Vodia is ready to provide comprehensive, best-in-class cloud-based and on-premise multi-tenant systems to Panasonic customers.

The Vodia PBX not only matches the functionality of existing systems, but we have also added important features that will improve end-user productivity. We believe the ability to work from home, and from other locations (anywhere there’s Internet connectivity), will play a major role in upgrading existing customers. We have a cloud solution ready for our partners; we also have on-premise solutions for partners who prefer to continue running their systems on their own.

If your company will be affected by the departure of Panasonic from its PBX and SIP businesses, reach out to us, sales@vodia.com, and explore your options. This is a great time for cloud telephony. For Panasonic users planning to transition to other devices, the Vodia PBX offers easy integration with desk and conference phones, smartphones, cordless phones, analog terminal adapters and FXO/FXS gateways. This includes:

  • Panasonic KX- UT113/123/133/136/248,
  • KX-UT670 and KX-UTG200B/300B.

Installations can mix these devices with devices from other manufacturers. Check out our supported phones. For customers requiring on-premises service, the Vodia iOP can be used in addition to a large range of PC-compatible server equipment.

“This is a great opportunity for Panasonic dealers to take a serious look at Vodia,” said Kyle Asbury, Director, Sales, and Marketing. “Customers can keep their existing Panasonic phones with Vodia, making for a seamless migration path.”

How Vodia Helps Hotels Not Disturb Their Guests

Vodia’s cloud PBX system enhances the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) function for hotels, allowing guests to manage their privacy through buttons in the room or on the phone. The system syncs with PMS for seamless functionality, enabling hotel operators to manually override DND when guests struggle to disable it. For critical situations, like room service follow-ups, the system allows specific extensions to bypass DND, ensuring guests are reachable when needed. VIP guest management features, guest-to-guest call restrictions and automatic resets upon checkout ensure privacy, security, and convenience, improving the guest experience while maintaining operational efficiency.

WLAN and VoIP: What You Need to Know

As businesses increasingly adopt Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), understanding its impact on Voice over IP (VoIP) is essential. While WLAN offers flexibility and mobility, it can lead to call quality issues due to packet loss and bursts during access point switching. To combat these challenges, organizations can utilize robust codecs like OPUS which are designed to handle packet loss effectively and employ Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to enhance jitter buffers. By incorporating these solutions, companies can ensure a more reliable VoIP experience that meets the demands of modern workplaces, allowing seamless communication without interruptions.

Call Forwarding Glitches

In the late 1980s, prank calls were a common form of entertainment but often caused confusion, similar to today’s call forwarding glitches. Recently, a client migrating to a new PBX system experienced disruptions when users mistyped numbers for call forwarding. While user errors are common, there's a bigger concern: calls being misdirected to emergency numbers or costly lines, especially since many VoIP phones lack security features. Solutions include restricting call forwarding to internal numbers, blocking access or allowing only specific, pre-approved numbers. Ultimately, balancing control over settings is essential to prevent glitches while keeping systems user-friendly.
