Mini Upgrades

The upgrade process for snom ONE mini and SoHo devices has been clarified. When purchasing a version 5 license, users can now use the device’s MAC address as a promotion code for a 50 percent discount on bundles like ten, twenty, or premium five, ten or twenty. The generated license is specific to that MAC address and can only be used once. Additionally, the new premium five license is designed for production use, offering more calls and accounts compared to the free edition, which is only for demonstrations. This helps streamline the upgrade process and gives users more flexibility.

One of the topics we finally addressed is the upgrade of the snom ONE mini and SoHo devices. Because these devices did not have activation codes, and many of them are actually running the version 4 free version, upgrading them was a special case.

Upgrading SoHo and mini devices now works like this: when you purchase the version 5 license, you can use the MAC address of the device as the promotion code (a.k.a. voucher) for the ten, twenty or premium five, ten or twenty bundles. You will see the bundle is then 50 percent off the regular price. Please keep in mind the license generated after the purchase is restricted to that MAC address (and you can do this only one time). Using a MAC address of the SoHo you have somewhere in your closet to upgrade your PC server isn't a good idea - the license will expect to see the SoHo MAC on the network device.

We also added another license that, at first glance, doesn't make sense: the premium five license. But there are at least two reasons for this license: first, the free license is technically only for demonstration purposes, while the premium five license can be used in production; second, the new premium five license has more calls and more accounts than the free edition.

Why Fax Still Matters in 2025 and How Vodia Makes It Easy

Although many consider fax outdated, it continues to play a crucial role in sectors where compliance, confidentiality, and legal proof of delivery are non-negotiable. Healthcare providers rely on fax to meet HIPAA requirements, while industries such as finance, law, and real estate depend on it for contracts and documents that require signatures or legally verifiable transmission. Unlike email, fax offers confirmation reports that serve as proof of receipt, along with time-stamped records that hold up in legal proceedings. With Vodia’s PBX, digital fax becomes faster, easier, and more accessible than ever before, enabling users to drag and drop documents, monitor transmission progress, and receive immediate confirmations.
